Overview – Boardwalk Chapel Ministry Teams

OVERVIEW: 

A Ministry Team is a church group that goes to the OPC's Boardwalk Chapel in Wildwood, New Jersey:

  • to serve for a week
  • from Saturday to Saturday
  • between mid-June and early September

A Ministry Team participates in or assists the Full Time Volunteer Staff in carrying out the main activities of the Chapel which include:

  • training in evangelism and apologetics
  • engaging in evangelism on the boardwalk
  • distributing tracts and booklets
  • providing free Bibles and books
  • presenting the gospel through nightly programs
  • conducting follow-up discipleship and Bible studies when possible

A Ministry Team:

  • does not have to be from an OP church but must adhere to the Chapel's "Statement of Faith" (below)
  • must be accompanied by an adult team leader
  • may be accompanied by a minister from their church who can serve as Minister for that week at the Chapel
  • can be of variable group size and age range
  • can indicate on their application form their preferred week and their particular interests and abilities
  • may be able to serve for a shorter length of time, if necessary
  • pays a fee to the Chapel ... see application form (below)

Summer 2017 Ministry Teams were from:

  • Week 1 (June 17-24): New Hope OPC (Frederick, MD)
  • Week 2 (June 24-July 1): Church of the Covenant OPC (Hackettstown, NJ)
  • Week 3 (July 1-8): no church group took this opening this year!
  • Week 4 (July 8-15): Franklin Square OPC (Franklin Square, NY) and Pilgrim OPC (Bangor, ME)
  • Week 5 (July 15-22): Heritage PCA (Warrenton, VA)
  • Week 6 (July 22-29): Covenant OPC (Orland Park, IL) and other churches from the midwest
  • Week 7 (July 29-Aug. 5): Living Hope OPC (Clarksville, MD) and Ketoctin OPC (Purcellville, VA)
  • Week 8 (August 5-12): no church group took this opening this year!
  • Week 9 (August 12-19) Immanuel OPC (Bellmawr, NJ)
  • Week 10 (August 19-26) River of Life OPC (Phillipsburg, NJ)
  • Week 11 (August 26-Sept. 2) Faith OPC (Pole Tavern, NJ)
